One of the things we love most about Jesus is his heart for the underdog, the marginalised and the sinner. He had time for the person who everybody else rejected (much to the consternation of the ‘religious’!). Tax collectors, adulterers, prostitutes, ‘sinners’ – all were drawn by his outrageous love and felt valued and significant in his presence. The story of the lost son (Luke 15) tells us that with God distance is of no consequence, what counts is direction. It doesn’t matter how far from God your life has gone, he loves you and watches for you – the minute you turn towards him he is there for you (read the story for yourself and see!) – That’s the heart of your heavenly Father. Now is that good news or what!!
